OrthodoxTV was commissioned by Bishop BASIL and is the Official
Audio/Video Companion to the Antiochian Archdiocese Website
(www.antiochian.org).
February
28, 2002:
Orthodox Christians around the world now have a new tool
at their fingertips to stay current in the happenings of
the Orthodox community. OrthodoxTV (www.orthodox.tv), a
Tulsa-based operation, combines the deep traditions of the
Orthodox Faith with the cutting-edge services of the Internet.
Funded by parent company Orthodox Christian Communications
Corporation (OCCC), Orthodox.TV was launched in 2001 with
a very important objective - serve the Orthodox Christian
community through education, technology, and by providing
a vehicle for people to have "face-time" with
their Hierarchs and regional Bishops. "Before OrthodoxTV,
parishioners' experiences with their Hierarchs and Bishops
were largely limited to reading letters, books, and magazines,"
said OCCC CEO Ruston Miles. "Orthodox.TV provides Orthodox
Faithful a live, audio-visual experience with those serving
in the Orthodox Christian community." Commissioned
by Bishop BASIL of the Antiochian Archdiocese and officially
endorsed by the 45th Antiochian Archdiocese Convention,
OrthodoxTV looks to connect some 300 million Orthodox Faithful
worldwide by providing news, information, programming, and
interactive communication tools for a Pan-Orthodox audience.
Already serving 600,000 hits monthly to over 42 countries,
OrthodoxTV is the foundation for a globally connected Orthodox
Christian community.

The
Staff of "Come Receive The Light" is made up of
volunteers from Orthodox Christian Churches that are both
Local and National. Together, they make a comprehensive
mix of professionals who bring a wide range of expertise
to the program, with backgrounds in everything from broadcasting,
computer technology and audio/video production to investment
banking, real estate and journalism. Each staff member brings
his or her own unique and individual talent to the mix that
is our radio ministry.
The History of "Come Receive The Light" was born
from one South Florida Church's desire to bring the Orthodox
faith to the homebound, to spread the joy of Orthodoxy to
the world, and to supplement the weekly worship of the faithful.
But in just a few years, it has become so much more: a weekly
ministry that brings its listeners "food for the soul."
Along the way, the program has exploded in popularity -
and listeners.
Starting
December. 4, 1996, a modest program that began as a parish
ministry now sends its signal to Orthodox Christians of
all nationalities across the United States. Based in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida, it is now the farthest reaching program
of its kind in the United States, offering spiritual enlightenment
to listeners tuning in and callers phoning in as clergymen
and lay theologians discuss contemporary, moral and religious
issues that touch our everyday lives. "This is truly
a unique show. No one else in the country has a show with
such a wide reach. It has been truly blessed by God with
an incredible staff of volunteers." said Father Christopher
Metropulos, the program's founder.

Orthodox
Christian Mission Center
(http://www.ocmc.org)
The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) proclaims and
practices the evangelical imperative of the Orthodox faith
based on the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
who commissioned us to go "and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). OCMC
recruits, trains and sends missionaries to preach, teach,
baptize and to minister to the poor, hungry, sick, suffering
and orphaned. We, therefore, support the development of
indigenous leaders and strengthen the infrastructures of
churches, especially in, though not limited to, countries
where Christianity is a minority, thus creating vibrant,
Eucharistic Orthodox Christian communities throughout the
world.

Orthodox
Christian Fellowship

OCF stands for Orthodox Christian Fellowship. An OCF is
a pan-Orthodox group of students and young adults within
a college or university who meet for fellowship, worship,
and spiritual development and support. The mission of Orthodox
Christian Fellowship (OCF) is to support fellowships on
college campuses, whose members experience and witness to
the Orthodox Christian Church through community life, prayer,
service to others and study of the Faith (Acts 2:42).
